Keihin carbs

Has anyone had any experence retrofitting keihin pwk carbs on their bikes there are plenty around on eBay but most are the model with the tps power jet can these be used with the tps diconnected? or is it best to hunt down a pre tps model.

Yes but I get them so I can use the TPS and power jet. You can run without the TPS no problems. The earlier model is the PJ they have 38,35 and 33 mm sizes

Hi lozza how do you get the power jet to work? There is an eairler model pwk that doesn't have the power jet 99 cr250s had them but there harder to find also what are the air striker models like they look complicated.

The power jet 'works' all the time the solenoid is there to cut fuel to the powerjet circuit. Air striker use those divider fins to funnel air around the needle shroud to boost mid range,which they do well. No more complicated than any other carb, Keihin or otherwise.

Ended up getting a non tps pwk 38mm of ebay any hints on jetting for a 89 RMX250 with a Pro Circuit Platinum pipe.
Lozza if your reading the comlicated carb I was looking at was a flat top air striker (if thats what their called) it seemed to have two sets of electrics coming out of it and it looked shorter than a round top pwk.

What was stock size on the RMX 36mm IIRC, RM 250 jetting is going to be very close, do plug chops etc etc.
The later PWK has the TPS and solenoid and yes is definatly shorter

I'm sure its got a TM 38mm not the PJ of the later models. Rm jetting sounds like the way to go it won't be going for a while as I bought it with a blown top end and needs a major tidyup hopefully it will make a good second trailbike/pre 90 so i'm only doing some research at this stage.
