KTM 125 identification

Hi guys

I am new to the site and looking for some information on a bike I have in storage.
I have got an early KTM 125 that I am trying to identify to year and model.
The frame number is 30363956 and the engine number is 7432614.
It runs a Sachs 122cc engine (Sachs 1251/6B).
The tank, held by leather 2 buckle strap, and fibreglass airbox are red, side covers, 1 alloy and 1 steel, are in yellow and the frame is currently black. The front gaurd is held by an alloy gaurd brace with KTM symbol.
Looking to restore and any information will be greatly appreciated.

Im not that good with KTM numbers but my guess would be a 73 frame with an 74 engine making it a 74 model. 74 was the last year of sach engines so you would race it in the pre 75 class.
Current bikes. KTM MC 250 77 Husky CR 360 77, Husky 82 420 Auto Bitsa XR 200 project. Dont need a pickle just need to ride my motorcickle

This what I would do with one if I had one. Make one of these.

Thats a good looking KTM in the picture. Looks similar to that one. The 125 has the brakes on the the right front and left rear with silver hubs and steel rims. Chain runs on the rhs of the motor, also with up-pipe and short muffler. Rear shocks have 3 different hole positions on the mounting tabs on the swingarm. The bike is partly dissassembled but mostly there.
I bought the bike as is from the second owner who didnt know a lot about the bike, so the history was sketchy. Trying to find out what it is and if parts are available for that model for a resto.
Will try to post a photo of the bike as is soon.

Redrider, l owned one years ago, 1972 KTM 125 sachs engine red tank trap on tank, radial finned up pipe red side covers sachs engines parts are plentifull in the states and out here DKW, WASSEL, PENTON DALESMAN all use sachs engine they are all the same. they are a very nice bike, brad Lewis has got my old KTM 125, my bike was totally original.

That photo is nothing like it. ozktm, 1972 model is different

Was refering to Red rider. as his frame number is '73.
and i refer to Penton site for info below :
1973
Same as 1972 except for the following:
* 100cc and 125cc models are still Sachs powered
* Side stand is mounted on side of left swing arm
* Girling rear shocks
* Chain guide block area is redesigned with extra brackets
* All models have white PVC (plastic) fenders
* All models now have black finished cast magnesium alloy barrel hubs
* 175cc engine is still black but now comes with a 30mm Bing carburetor
* New 1.8 gallon MX style fiberglass gas tank is introduced
* Head light is either large bowl shape (5 3/4" diameter) or small bullet shape (4" diameter)

The sach engine can be made to work really well when you put it under the bench and install a Honda one.

Thanks guys.
The info is great. The bike looks a lot like the green bike posted by ozktm, just has a smaller fuel tank and plastic gaurds.
I just need to check if all the sachs parts are still with the bike and see what I need to get it going.
