This is not a joke- I have been offered a brand new (never ridden) 1981 wr 430 Husky. I am interested to see what value can be ascribed to the bike. All input really appreciated. Thanks Gavin

Hey Crabby, this issue as been a point of discussion several times and most recently about an RM500 offered in NZ for $A20,000. The bottom line it is all about buyer and seller coming together. NOS can be very desirable to certain people such as museums and collectors, and they'll pay premium dollars.  But that is a very limited market. Others guys would definitely buy a NOS RM500 but they know the first time they ride it and their grubby Sidi's scratch the down tubes and side covers they'll lose 30-50% of that $20,000 - and they can't justify the premium.

So to get a premium price you would have to know a museum or collector/s or target audience to approach. The only other way is to test the market (through EvilPay?? :P) and be patient.
