If I remember correctly the "shit-scared" segment with Mick Molloy and Rob Sitch on the Late Show was based on old Ken.
I remember seeing it on the ABC when they screened it after an episode of the Late Show. A mate actually chased down a copy of the doco from the Canadian Broadcasting Corp before you could buy it over here.
My favourite parts (after Ken trying to get into the firesuit) would be
- him telling (completely straight faced) the doco maker how he was going to "steer" the rocket car in mid-air towards a nice soft paddock for his landing
- Evel Knievel coming out to the jump site for TV interview, and saying he wouldn't do it!
- and as the jump get delayed time and time again, the ever dwindling number of spectators and safety crew. I think by the time it finally goes ahead there are two small boys watching, and a guy in a rubber dinghy waiting to fish him out of the river
Champagne comedy for sure.
