Painting Hubs

I've had my hubs painted (satin black two pac) but they still look a little to glossy to me any ideas on reducing the gloss (I was thinking of trying jif) or should I just live with it. :-\

WMC83 try rubbing them with steel wool. Use soapy steelo soap pads with some water. It will take the gloss off. If ya can try a test area first to see if it turns out ok.

just leave them, they will dull with a little age, the only other alternative is to have them redone

I use an additive thats added to the paint and you can vary it from satin to matt finish if you want. I cant think of the exact name/part number, but if you cant find it here then your paint specialist can help. www.spieshecker.com.au

Can you use it after painting? I think I'll live with what I've got now that I've laced the wheels.

no because its an additve that gets mixed with the paint, then you spray it on and it drys matt or satin depending on the rartio you mis in the additive.

Flattening base. It's mixed with the colour or the top coat clear.

Yes I know what you mean now  the paint shop put that in to reduce gloss to satin but it needed more to get the finnish I wanted (there not mind readers!) I should have done a test run before painting the hubs but I got impaitent :)

The Spies Hecker matting paste that LCW mentioned is: 'MA100 matting component'
I have used it on some bike stuff and also on helmets if thats what people want. It retails around $ 109 a litre and its mixed at 1:1 for matt and less for satin. I will try a new product by Glasurit soon. Its a clearcoat that just needs hardener for a final coat over whatever colour base you have, It comes in either matt or satin.
