Honda 79 cr250r rod kit
« on: April 20, 2010, 10:44:42 am »
Can anyone help as to where I can get the correct rod kit please?  Some places show Pro X fits 78 to 01 models but others say it ony fits 84 to 01- not 78 to 83. No one seems to list a 78 to 80 kit that I can find.

The bigend gudgeon pin is alittle longer on the later models .You just turn it down to match your pin and away ya go.

Buy an ATC250R rod (hot rods) and you'll have it the other way, pin a tad short but no problems. Save the cost of having the other pin ground.
Cheers,

Thanks men -most helpful. From the Hot rod specs it looks like the later model (84 to 01) CR250 pin is 59.5mm, long and the ATC250R pin is 56.3mm. This seems to be the only differences between the kits.? - presume the rod length 125.4mm, and 31mm big end, 22mm small end, crank pin 24mm and gudgeon 18mm is correct for 79 model? Haven't got mine apart yet.....
Does anyone know what the correct length should be for the 78 ~ 80 model - maybe 58mm?
