Marzocchi oil level/quantity?
« on: July 31, 2010, 04:07:32 pm »
I've put a set of long travel(9'') 35mm Marzocchis onto my '77 Mk10 Pursang (like Pomeroy did...sorry Montesa guys)
I wonder if someone can tell me an oil level to the top when forks collapsed, and a quantity to start with?
I've put a set of Walters progressive dampers in.
I'm a bit of a light weight these days at 63kg due to diet conditions.
Thanks guys, Mick McMillan

Just to add a bit more info,
The forks I've got are the same as the one's you're discussing about paint colour in the recent posts.
anybody got info? Greg?

The 35mm Marzocchi forks on the '77 Monty VB series have 260ml oil standard in each leg. I have a set that have emulators in them. I set oil level at 100mm with forks fully compressed (springs out). I am a lot heavier (DO'OH :-[) then you so maybe start at 150mm as the oil level must cover the emulators but more oil gives stiffer initial spring rate. So I am told and happy to be corrected if that is not the case.

Greg

catch you at Lakes? ;D

Thanks Greg, thats what I'm after. Surely Montesa forks on a Bully will make it go faster??
This '77 Mk10 won't be ready for Lakes but I'll drag out old faithful '73 Mk6 325 and flog it around again.
You're new bike looks like a bit of a firebreather. Good score.
See you there.

Don't think you need any help to make you faster. I've seen that Mk6 go. Flog it around you mean flog the other riders ;)
