Personal race numbers - a question.
« on: December 08, 2007, 10:03:40 am »
Whilst scrolling through the race photos of the past few months I've noticed the letter 'X' prefixs many race numbers.
What's that about; does it symbolise anything?
Back in the day I recall the Juniors had a 'J' prefix and this disappeared when they reached a certain age.
Just wondering...
"Whadaya mean it's too loud?! It's a f*ckin' race bike!! That pipe makes it go louder - and look faster!!"

for classic MX,
A=pre 60
N=pre 65
F=pre 68
H=pre 70
X=pre 75
Z=pre 78
E=evolution
usually this number is to be about 50mm in size and placed before the main didgits.
thats straight from the MA handbook, as for choosing your own numbers for racing.
at club level it's pretty much just stick on what you want.
with a MA liscence, you get 5 choices, if they're all taken then MA allocates one.
i got my first choice.
Woo Hoo!

Thanks for that; I've yet to arrange my licence for VMX next year.
For the most part I'll only be racing VMX ('78 Maico) around greater Brisbane, but I may head to CD5 or Tassie if possible.
Certainly not modern.
That being the plan, can you advise which licence I should chase?
Is it compulsory to be a member of a Club?

hey wombat,
yep, either qvmx or bmcc for us brisbane folk.
as for which licence?

Recreation lic=practise only
Club lic=practise and club racing
National=everything

obviously the national being the dearest but allows you to do the most.
with both bmcc and qvmx meets, a senior club lic will be enough but if you're wanting to get to Tassie for the Nats, then you'll need the national lic.
as for Cd5, i'm thinking of heading down too and may {a bit early to say just yet} have a spare spot on the trailer.

Thanks for the info guys; much appreciated.
I logged onto the various sites and there's hours of reading and helpful links.
The CD5 and Tassie trips are on the wish list at present.
But I shouldn't get ahead of myself; I'm still waiting for the bike to arrive...
