No its not mine
But i know the guy because i bougth a 66m 414vf frame and a front end from him
I was not interrested in the engine because i know it was a bad idea from montesa
to put the clutch on the crank ,There was to much load on the crankbearing.

But a guy at tumoverde forum told me that these engines are verry rare
he knew only for 4 in Spain

yep

I've got one ;D. Plan A is that it will go into a VB chassis.

Haven't tried the crank mounted clutch but from inquiries there doesn't seem to be a lot wrong with it. I haven't heard of bearing issues. What I did hear was that some had gear change probs which they attributed to the c/clutch. Others seem to think the gear change prob was more to do with gear box shimming. Jared from SWMontesa has experienced them he drops by occasionally. He might add comment.

I think there is at least another two here in Oz - in VA chassis.

Pretty easy to change the early model to the later primary shaft mounted clutch.
The cranks are the same.  You just need to mount the clutch basket and primary gear
from a VB/VE/VF 250/360/414. The primary gear and clutch  basket are the same
(7363.501)  Big bores use an extra clutch plate and different springs, but I have
used the 250 clutch on the 414's with no problem.  Of course the clutch cover
must be changed.  One thing that might have caused the problem with the early
360's is that the cases are sandcast and later one's were die forged.  I have a couple
of replacement cases that were released after the problems and they have brass inserts
that the selector shaft rides in as well as one end of the countershaft.  Could have been
a problem with weak castings.  I don't think it affected all the early ones, as I have a customer
with the crank mounted clutch and he is still riding the bike with no problems!

Hi , The story with the VA360 is the young guy had it new the clutch broke he took it down to the bike shop but on the way he was killed in a car acident, and the motor was stolen out of the car wreck.  Then all the rest of the time the bike sat at his parents place until a friend of mine a few years ago brought it then I brought it off him.  So I just thought it may be floating around some where??? But that was along time ago. Jeff.

it looks not bad at all.
The springs can be softer because the lower force on the clutch.Softer push?
The clutchplates wil wear out faster due to higher rpm.

So I am stupid not to buy that engine
it is passed to my nose
