Does anyone know if it's possible to buy a "one and a half" link for a 520 Takasago chain and where? Jerry

I am very familiar with these because a lot of old british bikes have them in the primary chain or rear chain and its actually impossible to try and not use one, they just have to be half link or all your adjustments are out. They are kind of illegal and most motorbike shops will just tell you they are not available or no such things exist or ever existed. You can get them from industrial chain type suppliers and it always helps if you dont say its for a motorcycle or for road use. Most of these places do not go by conventioal motorcycle chain sizings eg 420, 520 etc. You need to ask for the link in the actual pitch size in inches.

I get them from here
http://www.craker.com.au/

and

Renolds http://www.renold.com.au who used to do a lot of OEM chains for british bikes. I used the Adelaide one

Adelaide
67 Orsmond Street
Hindmarsh, SA 5007
Tel: (08) 8346 9077
Fax: (08) 8340 1217

I also think you could get them from here http://completedrives.com.au/ but i only use the above 2 places for links.

I think Renolds is the best place to try as they were the original suppliers of the chains with half links for many british bikes that had the half links standard and i even think they still have the old catalogues from the 50'-70's etc. I know i have got them anyway.
