1973 KTM 125 information

I am trying to get some info on what colors the 1973 KTM 125 came out in that were imported in Australia.
I have a 1973 KTM 125 that has a burgundy colored tank, airbox and left side cover. The color is painted directly onto the red fiberglass tank and airbox.
The frame is currently black, but has a silver underneath the paint.
I previously posted some questions, with good responses, but the photos showed the models being green or blue. Did they come out in a burgundy color at all?

What is the difference between a KTM 125 and a Penton 125 from 1973?

Trying to get some info so I can start a resto on the bike.

Any idea how many may have been imported into Australia?

Brad at parts Monster has an original one , red tank white mudguards red airbox , there are a few getting about so maybe 50? Penton owners club website has lots of them.
Best thing to do with one is fit an Honda engine.

I believe that most of the 73 KTMs that came into the country had red fibreglass hence the red tank and airbox. They definitely were not burgandy. My discussions with Brad are that John Kirkpatrick imported 10 125s into the country in 73. Check out an early issue of VMX mag for the interview with John. Frames were silver. Go to the Penton Owners Group website to find some info on colour matching. Tanks are the enduro toaster and the mx peanut. I have a spare toaster that I may part with if yours is looking grim. Pendas are a great idea, very hard to create and a Sachs motor can be a lot of fun as well. One just needs to be in tune with the gearbox. On a good day I am on a not so good I go backwards searching for gears.Stick with the red and silver and the bike will be more than ok. Cheers Bill

Have everything to rebuild a 72 KTM Sachs 125, motor completly done  top to bottom, requires front forks and original front wheel and guards. Lost interest in it after riding my Wassel which is also available for the right offer. Also have another 2 motors  for parts. PM if interested. Like big bores for big blokes.

My 73 still has some very good original parts fitted, including a mx peanut tank, just missing a few bits. Seat, rear guard and a motor that works.
I spoke to someone, cant remember who, about 15 years ago when I purchased the bike and they thought around 6-8 may have been imported. Not far off the mark.
I have been on the Penton Owners Group website, great site, looking at colors and standard bike fittings for the 73 model. The color of the tank and airbox on mine was a similar color to what the Mettco Penton 125 was painted in. Sounds though like it should be a red as per the fibreglass color.
