my brother owned one back in the day and i spent quite a bit of time riding it.
i didn't like it much.
the Yammie front wheel would be an improvement for sure as the brakes on my brothers bike were crap.

There were a few Italian trials bikes made in the early 1980s that were similar in geometry and componentry to the last model Bultaco Sherpa Ts. Not surprising really because ex-Bultaco technical people designed them and the Bultaco was regarded as a very good design at the time.
The SWM trials bikes from the early 1980s are generally regarded as the best Italian trials bikes that had a Bultaco design influence. The Italjets were not so highly regarded at the time, but nowadays anything can be made to be as good as anything else, and people with the green Italian machines are nowadays able to enjoy riding something that looks a bit different to the more commonly seen Yamahas and Bultacos and be just as good to ride.
Fitting Yamaha wheels is not uncommon practice in twinshock trials circles

In the early '80's there was quite a few of the Italjet 350's being ridden in WA. These were the best option available at the time & after owning 348 Montesas (which were a great bike but had no primary kickstart & frames which were prone to breaking  )the Italjets were a good thing & we had a lot of success with them.
We all put Yamaha front wheels in them so they had brakes that worked & apart from being a bit heavy they were strong & they worked well. Then in 1984 Yamaha released the TY250 Mono & the rest is history........
