If that's the case how do you get "translucent" GRP? (They look like the original translucent plastic).

no coloured gelcoat is used,either just natural gelcoat achieves the translucent look,or theres  non at all?

I thought the matting would show through - maybe it does - maybe it won't 'pass muster' up close .

geezas no more secrets ,powderbound  rather than emulsion bound mat leaves very little strand witness,also different resins brands/types react individually with the emulsions,i use powderbound for the "clear" strips in tanks for fuel level window,

I know those mudguards, as I'm the one that had them made!  They are made by
Maier and are plastic.  The white ones are smooth high gloss.  The opaque units
had a small run as some developed white streaks, so most that were made are white.
No M on the front units, only rear.  The black VR replica guards are fiberglass from RPM
fiberglass co.
