Maryborough Motorcycle Club needs you

Anybody in SEQ thinking of doing dirt track like me?

Looks like 2010 will see the oil track coated with loose gravel with both the short & long tracks operational.

I hope it all works out!!!!!!!!

Steve I have some great memorys of big Dirt Track Meetings at Action Park a long time ago but unless I'm missing something in your post and attachment what it will be resurfaced with is the least of your worrys.

Not many of the younger folks of the current generation have the vision/get up and go/whatever/ community spirit/ to get a Motorcycle Club up and running and if you guys in SE QLD that have an interest (any interest) and it does'nt have to be from a riders point of view let the club down at this time and it folds you will be crapping on from a great height all those that have come before you and put in the hard yards.

Once upon a time I raced at Action Park (very slowly I might add!) and it was a pretty big deal back then (late 70s/early 80s). I think I was even Competition Secretary of the club for a couple of years if I remember right. It'd be a real shame to see the club fold. I hope that a few people get off their backsides and help out.

I have had the dream of getting back there to race one day, but I guess there's even less chance of that now...

I have a video of a race there when I rode a PE250 in the Trailbike Class against a few of the local lads, I'll have to see if I can figure out how to digitize it and post it up!

The special meeting was a success with a good turn out, so there is a sign on day this sunday 7th February. A working bee is organised from 7am and a bbq scheduled for noon. No riding however as the track work is not complete.

Good news alright. I checked their website a couple of days ago and saw things were looking good. Hope they have a successful year!

Great to hear. Heaps easier to work with/resurect an existing venue than try and create another at a later date. All the best to you guys.

The working bee last weekend was rained out but at the meeting the concensus was that the sweeper and pit corner were to be re-worked to take out the whopping big crown and provide an oiled track surface that will be sort of loose rather than slick.

Hence we need sump oil. Does anyone know any civil contractors (or similar) in the maryborough area we could source sump oil from. The club has a 1000 litre tank and pump. Apparently cooking oil is good to mix in as well.

Cheers,
Steve

Be sure to check with the EPA Gods regarding the use of oil or they might slam the gate on you.
I'll let Popeye know as he still bullshits on about how fast he was up there/lols ;D

Funny you mention that EML as i was thinking the same. Apparently MAQld hae gien the red light to maintain it as an oil track. The thing is the minority motard guys want the oil but the majority want a loose surface so they can run sliders and sidecars again. But it appears the minority hae the power. I would hae thought there was an easy solution to get a loose surface.  :D But there you hae it? Personally i don't care what it is as long as i get a go.
