CD7 suggestions
« on: November 18, 2009, 10:02:10 pm »
To start off with , I would like to say that this is not a criticism of CD6 in any way . As I posted in an earlier thread, CD6 was probably the most fun that I have had at a dirt bike related weekend in over 30 years of riding and racing bikes. Anyone who had anything to do with the running of the event need a big pat on the back for putting together such a fantastic weekend. But I had a few ideas rattling around in my head that maybe could be incorporated in CD7 .
        1. Would it be possible to have someone with a movie camera take footage of the event & put together a professionally made DVD that could be sold to the public ? I know that I'd buy a copy . This should not require any extra effort or cost by the event organisers, but would obviously require their permission . The Whitsunday Classic event , has had Brad Howard (Headshot Productions) do up a DVD of each year's event at Proserpine & the quality is pretty good . I think he is based on the Gold Coast and specialises in motorcycle & extreme sports footage, so he might by a possible candidate for Conondale . I think it would be great way to have a record of the bikes, the people & some on track action to best remember the weekend . Also wouldn't it be good to see something like a Glen Bell helmet cam, fast lap of the track ?
       2. I thought that the number of swapmeet items were down a bit at CD6 . I think this might have been because there was so many things to look at over a big area and good tracks to ride on . Who would want to be stuck selling items when there was heaps more other fun things to do ? So, what would be the chances of a cork notice board at VMX central, with for sale & wanted sections that you could pin a list to ( & a time you are available ), so that buyers & sellers could more easily meet ?  It would probably need a site map with a grid reference, so people could find one another easily.

I will second that idea, l like to see still shots of bikes before they get dirting, some riders take a lot of pride in their restoration and it be nice to see that on film.

You betcha we do!  It's called VMX Central ;D

We usually have VMX caps, stubbie holders, Polos, T-shirts and posters on sale at reduced prices.

We will also have a quantity of unrestored back issues for sale (i.e. with their original newsagent stickers on) at 1/3 off normal price as we did last year and no doubt there will be a special Classic Dirt 7 T-shirt as well.

The more expensive books are sometimes a little bit of a worry though, the outdoor setting of CD7 is not really good for the condition of the stocks and they tend to get damaged.  Last year, we took orders for the books so that they could be supplied in pristine condition by mail in the following week.
