Dumb things we've done.
« on: January 18, 2010, 09:21:42 pm »
Jady's post about knocking over a few Z900's got me laughing and thinking about dumb shit that you blokes might have done in years gone by.
Of course, I've never done anything silly, but I'm sure you lot have!!  ;D
So, tell us all about it and give us a laugh.  ;)

Oh, ok. There may have been one or two minor indiscretions in may past................  :-\

My first ever motocross race was at Colac, and I missed the chequered flag and kept racing. It took a few flaggies to jump out in front of me, to stop me going around so the next race could start.  ::)

Who's next?

Play racing through the bush on an SP370 and congratulating myself when the rest eased off for a corner. I gassed it up and took the lead only to realise they'd slowed because the trail ended at the Bruce Highway just a few metres round the corner. I hit the shoulder which kicked the arse end up and caused me to wind on full throttle. I shot across the road in front of some startled car drivers and ploughed into the bush on the other side. I was very dumb... and very lucky.

Why don't you try riding across the water in a swimming pool Graeme?
How can I see that in full size?

Not me, but witnessed a guy taking off fork caps to change fork spings, while sitting on the bike that wasn't on a stand. Spring and cap shot out nearly taking his eye out, front end dropped, and the whole lot went A over T.

March 1970 Bunbury WA, The south west 300 Enduro, chasing my old man and Ian Clifton, down a sand track, could only see their helmets in the dust.  the helmets parted I went straight on and hit the clump of blackboys they went around.  Though I beat them to the otherside, without my bike, I learnt to fly!!

For a control freak like me, volunteering to navigate for Glenn Seton in the 2009 Classic Adelaide Tarmac Rally. When he asked me how i was doing, i said "Sweating A Bit", he's reply, "Thats What Fear Will Do To You ;)"

A nicer bloke you will never meet.

Cool Rod! Are you coming back this year? Meet you at Lehmann's for lunch at Tanunda if so!  ;D

A similar story............I built a 4WD TX3 Turbo Ford Laser for a guy years ago with bigger turbo, Cosworth cams etc etc. We went for a test run to check on turbo boost. We got to the end of the windy, uphill run and he asked what the boost got up to, and I said I didn't know cos I had my eyes closed!!  ::)
