TS TRIPPLE TREE
« on: January 01, 2010, 09:35:18 pm »
G'day viewers this will be hard for me to describe but I have a set of triples from a early 70s TS185 if I put a bottom of a TS250 I know the fork tubes are wider but will the bottom still line up with the top ? as I have some fork tubes that have been machined on the top of the fork but the machined part of the fork stops just before the bottom triple tree. jimson

I think you're blazing new trails with that one Garry. If I had a TS185 top clamp I could answer but it's one I don't have (that I know of), possibly GT185/250 could also be a chance but alas I think I threw out the top clamp as it was broke :( are the forks Ceriani per chance? :P

hmmm..well just looked and GT185 triples are a little narrower so I'm leaning towards the TS185 being similar. Still worth a try though. Are the forks 34mm dia at the lower clamp?

I will have to check the size tomorrow mate its down the back shed. Do you think it would be safe to get the bottoms machined bigger ? and if so how much meat could you take out before it becomes a saftey issue  :-\ jimson

Doc the top of the for tube is 34 and the bottom is 36 so I'll have to mix and match until I find  two sets to make one  but it would be nice to have some one in the know if you know  :-\ jimson

The forks I'm running now are only 30mm  :'(

Garry, sounds like what you need is an RM125/250/400A/B/C lower clamp and an RM370 top clamp. The 250A top clamp may have the same tappered fork tubes but I'm not certain of that. The 370's are 36mm lower and 34mm top from memory.

1976 TS125A and GT185A centres between both fork legs are the same. Earlier TM125 are a little bit wider but all are 30mm dia forks and RM125A 1976 are a little bit wider again from the TM clamp and the lower is 34mm

Not sure what you are doing but I hope this helps  ;)

Oops.... I have just measured the TM125 and RM125A lower clamps that I have here and they both have 170mm centres between fork legs. Sorry about that  :-[
