CR500RE 84 model rear brake...

hi everyone. got a small problem with my rear brake.ive just pulled the back wheel off to fit some new wheel bearings but something isnt right with the brake cam that actuates the pads inside...it has a spring fitted on the outside of the drum ...is this normal ....ive never seen this before on a drum brake setup.....mind you ive only had this bike for four days and im not really familiar with it.. whats my biggest problem now is i havent got a clue how to fit it back up. ???might have to hunt around for another cam and arm for the rear brake....any suggestions anyone.......... ???

yes this is normal, i have the 85' CR500RF and it has a spring around the shaft and it connects to the brake arm and the backing plate. i can email you some pics tomorrow if you pm me with an email address if you like.

The spring usually brakes where it mounts in the backing plate,which makes it useless? had to find new ones for my 250 and 125.
