Thanks for looking for a guard for me Graeme. Shiny new ones just wouldn't look right.
That blue RT1 has a close resemblence to my own DT1 but I reckon mine wins the mudguard shootout.

As far as the black rims on my Maico that seem to offend you so much.....I agree that they're out of character but they've been on the old girl since 1991 and I've completed many other more historically correct projects since then. They're a part of the bikes personality and reflect the era it was done. If I ever race her again I have to swap hubs anyway so the shiny Akronts will return..If I ever race her again that is. The old things retirement is looking a fair option as the Cheney RT1 gets closer to becoming the new pre '70 weapon.

i love the look of that black RT1 and sorry to say Firko, but i think it's the real winner in the mudguard shootout.

my Blue RT1 has a generic MCS plastic rear guard,
a YZa style front guard from AMS,
the side number plate you can see in the pic is a seat base from and outdoor chair/setting,
the number plate on the other side is fibreglass from the RT2MX,
and i've fitted a plastic "inner guard" to protect the airfilter.
i love the look of it but she's heavy.

Vandy I love the look of it as well the blue tank gives the bike a fresh look what is the seat off ? You can buy new guards from VMX Plastics and cut them to shape back in the day thats what people did so they could RIDE now we worry about how it looks so much we forget what its for to stop mud
