Didn't they spend 12 million last year on helping some terrorist stay in the country, ask him for the money back.

Or take it out of the 42 grand the pollies are getting as a houing allowance.Or Sue Bardfords free airline tickets, or borrow it of Nga te awa who just got 4 billion dollars worth of pine trees for 24000 people. List goes on.

Havnt the pine trees been cut down to be replaced with native Nga Te Gorse ??  ;D

Things had to change in NZ. I remember in the late 70's early 80's when an MR175 backing plate to make my TL250 registerable was over $200 but the fine for no Warrant of fitness was about $15. A warrent of fitness in those days was a bit of a joke really.
Rego for a bike was about $30-40 from memory (fading) and even my Land Rover was only about $70 to register. I registered it as a commercial vehicle as it was cheaper than a car rego.
And what about "carless days" during the fuel crisis, what a croc that was.

I understand that things are very different there now. You need proof of a road worthy before you can get rego now????
In the "old" days rego was not dependant on road worthiness.

And ACC, if ever there was a scheme that would be misused, abused cheated on this was it. Maybe it's better run now but but I lost count of the number of holidays that were financed through "injuries"

NZd news   cut backs---- cut backs----
After a detailed operational review of it’s current staffing structure and requirements, the Board of Motorcycling New Zealand Inc., acting on the recommendations of HR company Directioneering Ltd, have moved to restructure their organisation.

The review included a comprehensive consultation process, and after consideration of the recommendations and the subsequent feedback, the Board decided to proceed with the new structure, which includes the disestablishment of the current Chief Executive Officer and Administration Manager positions.

The new structure will take effect immediately.

The Board considered it necessary to proceed with the changes to realise organisational efficiencies and a resulting year on year cost savings in six figures.

“The Board looked carefully at the total proposal and are now looking forward to moving forward,” said President Jim Tuckerman from his Auckland base.
