Another RM125C s/arm question!!!!

Ok can you run the "c" swing....sorry thats an oldie ;D ;D

Can anyone tell me if the chain buffer on the RM125C...the one under the arm is still available or if any have  been for sale on ebay (US) as NOS??? I haven't seen one as of yet.
What material is it made of and is it easy to replicate...if need be?

Also on the standard gearing side.....are you racers still running the 14/59 ...4.2:1 ratio?
As my bike sits,it has 13/46...3.5:1 ratio
I have no idea how this would go as it was a non-runner when purchased and since i'm restoring it
back to original as best as i can....it's gonna be about $100 + just for the rear sprocket from an US ebayer......then 130 odd link chain...etc etc.
Just one of those nagging should i or shouldn't kind of last things left on the bike.

If you wanna make one PE-UHMW (type of plastic polyurethane) would be a good material, or you could use a rubber grade of polyurethane. I had a mould made for some discontinued TS250 chain buffers and had them made in polyurethane rubber.

You are referring to 61273-41700  Chain Defense 2   ?

Have you checked with Tony at Vintage-Suzuki ?
If somebody has one you could borrow, Leith is spot-on. Get it replicated!!

When I fitted the alloy Suzuki swingarm on my 370, I had to start from scratch with the swingarm protectors. Using the picture off the www.alphasports.com parts lists and the available fixing holes in the swingarn I made up paper templates. I then marked and cut two pieces of 2mm polyprop plastic sheet to the same size. Then I popped them in the oven till they turned from translucent to clear (soft) and while they were still soft, I formed them over the swingarm. Then drilled and fitted them.

A bit of a toil but it gave good results.

David , If you have a RM 250- 400 c2 swing arm on a SP/ Dr frame ......use a DR 400 chain buffer  ;)

 I think my DR has now got an RMC ally swingarm [though it may be the first 400RM]

Here's two pictures of the chain tensioner. I got all the parts from Crooks Suzuki in the UK. The parts are current stock, but I got sent  the wrong spring so got that off Ebay as there happened to be a bunch for sale

Cloggy, that is a 'C swingarm, the 250/400 are the same.

Stew, I think David's 370 is an RM370 ;)

Monaro,
             As for gearing. Our RM 125 C is running 14/59 spockets in the standard 428 size. Gearing is spot on for my junior racing son. The same bike and gearing was used by Dean Burt to win 2 rounds at the Vintage Nationals earlier this year. He made no changes other than to run a DID heavy duty chain as the `name brand gold racing chain' would stretch uncontrollably after every race. And it let us down. (DNF round 1) Nil issues since the DID 428 was installed. A 520 set up might be better in some ways.

Jetting has also been set up and made a huge difference to the bike. That is another story!!!

Thanks Pete,i sort of had that feeling i was heading the stock gearing way.
I was thinking of raiding the 125T in the shed which has a fairly new 520 chain and sprocket set @12/50 which is pretty well close to the "c" 14/59 ratio but if its a resto....it's gonna have to be the 14/59.
Oh well it's only money  :) :)
