Late 70's CB125 Front End

Yeah, I know it's not a dirt bike but you blokes have a lot of shit laying around.............  ;)
I'm after a complete front end off a CB125 preferably with a mechanical disc brake.

I've got some Ideas,
lots of stuff works,
CT125, CR80, some of the new scooter stuff,SL100, etc etc
so yes most likely CB100\125 stuff will bolt straight up as well
first tell me what you want to end up with and why

Tim, one glaring problem with the chinka bits is the plating or lack there of :-\ I have 3 chinese wheels under the house that have never been outside and they've rusted badly. (I bought them for the tyres only) I've other jap wheels under there that have been there for 15/20 years and nothing..just dusty :)Near all the chinka bikes and bits I've seen over a year old, unless absolutely meticulously maintained, are nothing but corrosion magnets, if they get left outside on the odd occassion I'll give it 6 months or less, if left out permanantly I give it 6-8 weeks before nasty stuff sets in. This applies especially to the forks and shock shafts. The chinese have developed coatings so thin that the regular micron measurments don't apply ;)

first tell me what you want to end up with and why

I want to do it simply for the fun of it.
I've got a couple of stock 90's and another stock 110, so I thought it might be fun to build something custom.  :D
I know a guy in the U.S. who has just fitted a '78 CB125 front end to his and it's pretty much a straight swap.
He also claims it's lighter than his CT front end (not sure about that one) and of course, brakes better.

 :D Tony. forget the mechanical caliper, the early mechanical brakes are pretty much totally hopeless and no better than a drum. Swap the front end yes but fit something like a GPZ caliper to the CB forkleg and an XR350 m/cylinder up top and you'll be doing stoppies all over the place. Thats what I had to do with my KH125 because even with the mech. brake set up nicely with new pads/cable/skimmed disc it still simply would not stop period! :o  ::)

i find the stock front 110 brakes to be really good for the speed the bikes go, but if your hotting up the motor for more power and speed i guess you might want more front brakes, having said that the 110's i ride are less than a few years old so the brakes are pretty new.

Here's a picture. The front was fitted to a 1949 BSA C11 when I bought it. Suprising how well it pulled up the heavy BSA, way better then the original BSA front I put back into the bike.
I would like to keep light and brackets also front guard.

As for any performance improvement, that's not really the aim of the project. It's simply a bit of fun and to build something a bit different to everyone else's Postie bike.  ;D
