Ossa Super Pioneer id
« on: July 29, 2009, 06:45:55 pm »
Hi,
I bought this Ossa a few months ago, frame and engine nos (M 312670) id it as a 75 to 77 Super Pioneer 250. The only pictures i can find of this model are either yellow or orange in colour. A bit of sanding of the paint job on the tank reveals red gel coat and white on the sides of the tank. Can anyone tell me if this model came out in red and white or have i got a tank of another model?
Thanks

Searbs,

There was a green one too in 77/78/79 but its a 313 # according to my list.

I vaguely recall somebody saying that when you sand Ossa tanks you find a variety of colours there, but I don't remember who said it or where.

The desert Phantom ran the same tank as the S/Pioneer but was red (or maroon) w gold (& white??)striping.

Whatever the colour, its the right shape/size tank you have.

I have a 350 & to my mind they handle very sweetly

matcho mick are the wheels used in other projects

JC, maybe they just painted over an old batch of tanks, do you have any clues on a colour in spray can that is close to the original colour?
I'm impressed how the bike goes and handles

thinking out aloud Searbs,  ;) wouldn't mind a conical rear for my ossa dirt track project,i guess most later model's ran those f/rear,mine are just full width earlier (heavier) types, fronts ok,it's small trials type,if your'e going to use rattle can,use VHT engine/tranny paint(heatproof),it's if you can post cure it ,black garbage bag in the sun  ;D,should become reasonably fuel proof, good luck with it,mick

A bit more investigation under the black side covers has revealed traces of gold/yellow paint, so it seems as though that would be the original colour.

Do any of you ossa experts have suggestions for a colour match, or something in spray can that would be close?

Thanks
