My 74 MX250A has a DT rear which is OK for dirt track but I want to set the bike up for an occasional VMX event as well. Also would like to eventually make the bike as original as possible. Might consider a cheap complete or roller/wreck with useable wheel. A DT wheel will at least give me a knobby set up. Any out there?

Just get a yam with the same axel, ( so you can just change them over per event) so as to not limit your choices.   A few muddies out there but as you say Dt, MX etc hubs would be cheaper and then just lace in a unsholdered ally  ( catches look good but on the rear add about 2kg per lap as they fill straight up.
