« on: October 12, 2007, 08:32:34 pm »
is it worth just welding the skinny ones with fat steel or is there a cheaper peg thats fat and bolt straight up ? i keep losing my footing on the little skinny stock ones and its been on my list of things to do over Xmas  ;)

This lifted from the Yahoo TM group

Quote
I have modern RM pegs on my TM250, I think they are from a 2001 RM.
Around that year Suzuki switched the way they mounted the pegs to the
frame. Make sure you get the pegs that are sloted like the TM pegs. The
slots in the pegs are just about a perfect fit to the TM frame. The
pivots are larger diameter so you have to either drill out the TM frame
or make up small bushings for the pegs and use the TM pivot pins. I
drilled out the peg mounts on my frame and use the RM pins with zero
problems. The RM return springs can be heated up a little and bent to
work, if you are careful they will look like OEM.

I have two sets of these for my TM's, you have to use the long pins and springs from the same models and weld a small spring retaining peg to the underside of the frame rail to get them to spring back. If done right it looks like a completely factory OEM job

They are angled the same as the stantard ankle-shredders and 211Kwaka is right, they are cheap and easily obtainable at most wreckers, its just that I thought you might like to get some new ones  ;D

I'm looking at running some late model RM wide pegs on my TM125. They say once you have them you'll not go back. If you look at the frame mounts on the 2001 model rather than the footrest diagram they do look very much like TM. The later cast iron PE/RM pegs mentioned above are better than stock but I broke one near the pin at Coffs which now makes me look very hard at used right side pegs on models where the kickstart hits them as this I believe was how the damage was initiated. Just a thought is all..crushed nuts go well with ice-cream not VMX ;)

on monday i got a set of aftermarket brand stainless steel pegs for the newer RM's. im so glad i bought them. as you can see the RM/PE pegs in Docs photo are not very sharp at all. even the TS pegs are way better. im just waiting on springs and then i will get them fitted to my PE then i will have my frame ready for painting. (i hope they will work) everyone on the old forum said they will work on the late 70's early 80's RM/PEs. i have to grind a couple mm off the frame so the holes line up and im going to bush the pegs back to 8mm and use or make new pins. other than that they look like they are going to work well and fit, if i can get the springs to work

i got pegs for the 91-01 RM 125/250 & they are also the same as 93 onwards RMX250. you can go genuine or there are heaps of aftermarket options available

got my springs today - left - 09448-18029  & right - 09448-18030. looks like the right side will work out fine but i have concens about the kickstarter intefering with the spring so will chuck a motor in the frame on saturday and see what its like. i have a problem with the left side though. the left spring wont reach my post on my frame so not sure what to do there. i either have to weld something onto my frame so the spring will reach it or find another longer spring. have you guys who have used the new RM pegs on 79/80 RM 250/400 had this problem with the left side? or is this problem only on the PE's? i noticed the 91 RM 125 has the same pegs as 92 RM 125 but they have different springs left-09448-18026 right- 09448-18027 (right is discontinued) maybe i need the 91 RM 125 left spring instead of 92 RM 125 left spring?
