cost to ship forks/triples from the states

has anyone done this and have some idea what it should cost?

I just want to know if the quotes I'm getting from sellers are accurate or have been pulled out of their bumhole.

i got this on some early maico forks  last week

The cost would be $138.50. I may be able to break it down to make it smaller. Sometimes these old assemblies are difficult to break down easily due to corrosion. I do not want to spend too much time on it or damage the forks so I usually leave the disassembly to the buyer

I was quoted $175 usd to ship a Rm rear hub ( no rim or spokes) and he came back with $25-00 usd
after I had checked with postage calculator

I had a set of PE250 forks and triples sent from the US. $90au but that was going back 18months/2years ago no doubt it's risen a bit since then but to double in price seems odd

thanks guys, a couple were just over $100, but then there were a couple of sellers that I think must have been going to fly them over personally given what they were quoting

Always ask for a USPS quote .If the seler insists on UPS or Fedex DROP THE DEAL.!

i had some sent from Canada, it was prety expensive so i got a friend to pull the forks apart and send the steel tubes by seamail and the rest of the parts along with some PE handlebars in a separate package by airmail.

get them to drain the oil. I makes it less weight and cheaper

IT cost $100 to ship forks in AU so anything near that is cheap when you consider there are air freighting around the globe.

US send by wieght so generally unless they can fit in a flat rate box , breakeing them down wont change the actual rate. if there quoting under $125 take it. in the scheme of things is cheap enough

hi all not real big on shipping if i cant buy and pick up dont usually touch it but a bike shop i deal with in capalaba in qld specialise in vintage dirt bikes advertised somewhere to ship bikes or parts in there containers as i said dont know much about this topic but they could be worth a try just google ddr motorcycles for there contact number ive always found them to be quite friendly and helpful gary

USPS no longer ships by slow boat - air or nothing

approx 3kg will cost in order of 50USD or so.

Not cheap

as others have said, usps will be the cheapest, and believe me I have checked

NOTe to self..... make sure you tell them to post USPS or NOTHING.  (

(freight forwarding will add MIN $200 clearances to any item over the $100 mark if they send it via transport service.)
