Anyone who remembers the epic battles between Neil Coddington, John Langfield, Glenn McDonald and Alan Jones in the 2v class at the Bathurst Long Track will be saddened to hear that Neil Coddington has tragically died. See below.
Neil Coddington, former speedway rider and power boat veteran died at Somerset Dam, northwest of Brisbane, after his high-powered racing craft barrel-rolled.
Neil Coddington, 57, a respected competitor on the power boat circuit, was warming up a hydroplane - believed to be his championship-winning boat "Blue Max" at the dam around 8.45am on today, Friday when the accident occurred. (Nine MSN)
In the 70's Coddington, affectionately known as 'Fish', raced at the Brisbane Exhibition Ground and rode for British National League club Newcastle. He also represented Australia in test matches alongside John Titman, Billy Sanders, Phil Crump etc.
Rest In Peace Neil

Bummer, 57 is too young. Well, at least he was doing what he loved. RIP.

I'm sorry I didn't spot this earlier, Neil rode Speedway in the same era as my brother, I didn't know him personally but buy all accounts he was a great bloke and a good rider.
Very sad news and belated condolences to his family and friends.
