Sold.SOLD, pending payment.OK, so its no Ossa Phantom, but it is remarkably competitive, ultra-reliable, easy to ride and lots of fun. I doubt that you'll find a better pre-75 race bike for the money...
Only a few meetings since full rebuild (back to bare frame). Even with fat useless me riding it, it never finishes worse than mid-pack among the full 250s and open class pre-75 bikes. I lent it out to a mate after I busted my leg at Buladelah last year, and he was running 3rd/4th on it, the first time he'd ever ridden it!
1974 Yamaha DT175A-MX.
Engine. Freshly rebuilt, all new bearings and seals through the bottom end.
Very good compression.
Ported barrel, standard bore.
28mm carby from DT250A.
Electronic ignition.
YZ125A pipe fitted with larger stinger & custom silencer to suit 175 motor.
Has always been run on Motul M800, & Motul gearbox oil.
Engine is incredibly tractable, and still howls like an MXer should.
Suspension/wheels/brakes.34mm forks, excellent chrome, new seals.
Mullholland shocks.
YZ wheels with alloy rims, F & R.
MX250A front brake.
YZ250A alloy triple clamps.
Both tyres in good condition (about 90% tread remaining).
Other stuff.Big foot pegs.
Nearly new chain and sprockets.
All excess brackets removed from frame.
Good quality alloy handle-bars.
Absolutely race ready - always breezes through scrutiny.
Tons of spares, including:
Motor parts galore.
Headlight + tail-light to turn it into a Vinduro weapon.
MX125A airbox.
Original DT175 forks and wheel.
Can easily be turned into a 125 - just needs a 125 top end and new number-plate back-grounds. My similar DT125A racer is highly competitive among the CRs and YZs that attend the HEAVEN meetings.
Yes, the bike wasn't quite finished when that photo was taken!Sold. Asking $1000 with all of the extras and spares. Will happily sell for more with a 32mm carby, and/or with a MX125A gearbox (closer ratios).
