you wanting barnes or other ? still available new if you wanna pay.

if your looking for a cheaper and legit option go for a TX 650 or 750 wheel complete and just remove the disks, looks the same ( well not as sexy) and is period correct as thats what many yanks did.

depends what your looking to do  :)

Cheers Freakshow,

Is that a trials tyre you run on the front? Have you tried the Avon SM MkII if so what do you think?

Cheers, Steve

NOpe that photo is with a Speedway rear ( i have 19' - WM3 rims so tyre are limited - rears are quick change hubs ) but i have also had good reports on the kenda carlsblad.

It depends on the bike, most of my Flat track bikes still have the round US rubber on them in the early MT carliles and also later FT goodyear or maxxis block patterns, only cause they look right on the bike, it would look silly with a skinny pulled over it, downside is they run like shit on our tracks, but im after a look rather than a place these days.

on the mx BIkes i also run at Dt, i use the thin knobbly like the kenda sticky and they are much better handling and steering ( bit like a speedway front) you wont get a beeter tyre up there for crushed granite tracks

I have been using the speedway rears as front and rears as i picked up a dozen or so for Nothing at the last aussie titles here, so not only do they fit but they where at the right price.

Thats the only Flat tracker i have with the TX front the others are spools but you cant really tell the differance and they look fatter too, the spoolers might save you weight but you wont notice it and if you needing that kind of advantage then you really should be using a small hub front brake like out of a 100cc somthing as you need front brake if you not on a oval track.

IF in you want to lace in a spooler for resto looking then you can get 36 holers out of the State for under $150 but if your getting them off ebay second hand then just check you not buying a 40 hole as many where in the early chopper type one.  I have some contact in the US if you really want to go down that path but if you are then youll want to run a fat rim or the look is lost.

What are you trying to achieve ? and what bike is it for ?

I picked up a couple sp's and intend to do one up for vmx and one for dirt track. So the track bike aim is to be similar to the picture, and the vmx like the fox factory set up i saw on this site some time ago. The reason i was looking for a spool as an option was i picked up some non leading xt/tt forks but didn't realise the guy had grinded the backing plate stopper off. I didn't look to hard as they set me back $5.

Ok kewl sounds like a plan, i doubt youll find spoolers over here unless they came off a chopper off a sidecar chair, so your best bet if its on a budget and less screwing around is the TX thing or go O/S but remeber to check the holes

So 40 holes is for older steel road rims whereas 36 holes are for alloy offroad type rims is that right. There are a couple of xs spool's on ebay, which i assume would be similar to TX's? Cheers.

Dont really matter other than if you buying a spool make sure you have the right rim sitting around for it otherwise it might get expensive, plus you need the right spokes for it as its going to need to be a lot longer lenght,  hence why the bolt in  TX kinda deal is so much less head ache and costs dont creap up on you.
