2 stroke crankcase seals
« on: March 24, 2009, 03:31:05 pm »
Doing rebuild of a Montesa Cota but can't source identical crankcase seals (they are double lipped, double spring). Can anyone tell me if the double lipped, single spring seals work okay or will they leak on the up stroke? Or does anyone know a supplier in Sydney with these seals.

There are no serial numbers, only the dimensions (25 x 40 x 9 for the crank shaft seals) marked on any of the seals.

what about a brand name? if they are not specially made for you bike, then theres a good chance they clould be ordered from Japan via a specialist bearing/seal shop near you.

Was at CBC today. They can get other seals from OS but the sales guy said '5 months lead time and it requires a minimum order quantity....'. He indicated that it was significantly more than the 2 I was after.

So, back to using what they had.
