TS125A pipe
« on: March 11, 2009, 10:03:26 pm »
Hi

I purchased a TS125A back in 1976 from Hazel & Moore' s in Sydney and after many, many years of sitting around and being kicked over and run occasionally I have decided to tweak the bike just a little more than the few mods performed back in the 70's of removing the restrictor  plate and some baffles from the exhaust.

Much of the road gear was removed and replaced with Preston Petty headlamp and No. plate, Preston Petty front mudder guard, stihlmotor rear guard and a baha tank of which most of has been pilfered, or damaged, over the years by cunning bastards. :'(
I did have some motor work performed a few years back to repair damage to the bike after it had been taken, for a joke :( and left in a culvert where it was flooded with water after a storm.

Bottom end bearing, rod, top end bearing and piston were replaced and bike still runs today as I fired it up only just last Sunday arvo.
I would like to ride this bike, off road, and have a fine gift from a friend of a 26mm Mikuni flatslide spigot carb which I would like to adapt to the TS intake but, I guess, that freeing up the exhaust with a nice chamber would be beneficial too.
So ... are there any easy, bolt up, replacement expansion chambers for a TS125A? that would compliment a 26mm carburettor?

Any advice appreciated..
Chris

Circle-F pipe for a TM125 73-75 would be a bolt on fit and compliment the six transfer port TS125-A cylinder nicely or you could fit an RM125M cylinder with a 28mm carb and use a Retro rocket pipe from Vintage iron (that would really get things moving)

Or ask in the wanted section for a useable TM pipe if you want something more local

Not a bad thing at all Gnomester ;) the pic of the TS125 models as they are heavilly based on the TM - '75 RM engine. Look around for a TM or RM125M or 125S pipe. These all but bolt straight onto the TS125 although you may have to fiddle with the rear mount. I've the '77 TS125 engine in the bike pictured below but it's soon to be replaced by the original that's in another I'm playing with at the mo also pictured. Both are cheapies and a mix of TS, TM and RM parts, barrels, carbs, pipes, airbox, ignitions..all TM/RM..TS internal ratio's and inner crankcases about all that's left of the original TS engines ;)

Thanks cyclegod and Doc for the info on what pipes and other nice bits that will bolt up to my TS.

and they are very sweet bikes you have there Doc. I have been following the thread for the "time waster" and it is very inspiring. I have a small mix of bits lying around the shed and as I don't plan to turn the TS into a period racer, rather use it as a ride bike I'm hoping to sort some mid 80's RM80 forks and clamps onto the TS frame. So far the stem diameter is the same as the TS but alas it is about an inch too short compared with the TS stem and I'm not sure how the trail will work out with these leading axle forks ....  ???

I do have the original front end of clamps forks and wheel so, I can always just go back to stock. Will have a bit of a play with things and do some measurements tomorrow.   ;)  ;D

thanks again...
