Bike Stands for WR & XC Huskys
« on: February 05, 2009, 10:25:31 pm »
What is a good bike lift stand to use for the Huskys with the centre frame rail under the engine?  They rock like crazy on normal flat top stands and I have had my WR fall off once :'( :'( :'( What works well.  Cheers

Cut out the centre bar and if you want to use it for trail riding just fit a skid plate.

Ouch - surgery! ::) ::) Guess that's one way to do it ;D ;D.  What about those stands the guys with the low pipe CZ's, Bultaco's etc use?  Where can you get those?  I tried using bits of timber under the rails and it worked but was messy :-\ :-\ :-\
BTW will I need to remove the side stand to pass scrutineering for VMX? Cheers

Its not surgery.

Its just removing a useless piece of tubing.  Takes about 60 seconds with a very fine cutting disk.

CR frames are almost exactly the same , minus this piece of tube.

The skid plate is much more functional for protection of the underside of the engine cases.

I purchased two husky stands from Benam Bike Stands, they have a V-top specially setup for Huskys. Because they are steel, they are strong and will never wear out. He used to advertise in ADB, donlt know if he is still going. Good bloke to deal with however.

I am currently using a piece of timber (3 x 2 pine) with a notch cut out.  I sit it on top of the lift stand near the front.  The frame rails sit on the wood with the centre rail sitting inside the notch.  Works OK - stops it rocking but its a pain having to remember to throw the piece of timber in the car and the wood can slip if the top plate is oily:D :D
