Can anyone positively ID these forks. I think they are IT175 - 36mm.

Without length measurements I am guessing YZ125D/E, IT175F and various DT125's & 175's. If they are original then they are probably IT175F but many parts are interchangable so if the original ones were rooted then YZ125D/E would bolt straight in but had air caps but may have been replaced.

i think the DT125/175s have 32mm stauntions. so i'd count them out if yours are 36mm.

Length 925mm extended and 725 compressed, approximate (within about 5mm) allowing for aftermarket caps.

From what I can make out, by appearance they could be E,F,G,or H. I'm assuming they have 200mm of travel. Does that help anyone to ID?

I am quite certain they are 79-81 TT 500 or 80-81 XT 500, with Goki air caps.

i reckon they are 79-81 TT 500 or 80-81 XT 500, with Goki air caps.
The Goki air caps is right but I don't think they're XT or TT because of the Headlight Holders which I believe are original.

Im not sure exact years but those forks were the same as on IT and TT/XT for a few years anyway. I think the XT headlight brackets were rubber mounted? did the early IT's have brackets like that?. just have to wait and see until a knowledgeable 500 owner such as CJ drops in. Ignoring the brackets i still think they are late model XT/TT

NOT YZ125D/E. The web above the axle is too short.

Fork boots suggest IT175G.

I would have thought the 'ears', and many other bits, would be common to all IT's. What size forks were the 400's? 36mm?

Yes, but not all of the same style. IT175D/E had a lot less ribs - not sure about 175F, but I thought they were like 175D/E.
