Rubber inlet manifold repairs.
« on: February 16, 2009, 05:02:59 pm »
Anybody know of a product that can be used on a cracked rubber inlet manifold?

It has been sitting for about 10yrs without use and is dried out and cracked, I have ordered a new one, but may need to have an temporary fix for QVMX opening round in 2 weeks.

Something flexible and fuel resistant or something more resistant than resistant.....if you know what I mean.

Local windscreen guy can fix it permanently with the glue system they use to glue windscreens into car bodies - NOT window rubeer repair glue though!
It's brilliant, I've had a few old cracked rubber parts repaired. Stays flexible and stick like the proverbial!

The stuff i would recommend for this is a polyurethane adheasive/sealant called Sikaflex. Its flexible, strong, fuel resistant etc. Its expensive but works well. You can also buy it in cheaper brands such as Motoline.
