what is determined as 'adjustable'? most shocks are adjustable by changing the shim stacks. are we talking externally adjustable with knobs and clickers?

I will be ordering a pair of YSS shocks soon for my CZ and I will strip and paint the springs a bright Yellow or maybe gun metal. Factory teams always had interesting coloured springs on their shocks, this was to ID them for tension but I still think it looked sexy. Like frilly knickers........
