RM/PE Swing arms
« on: January 14, 2009, 11:36:24 am »
I havn't had much to do with PE's but I wonder if there is much difference between the swing arm and shocks on a PE 175 and RM 125, has anyone tried to interchange the two, do they fit?

Not sure about 79 models but 80 models are a lot wider at the wheel axle to cater for the PE quick realease hub. If your more specific about what you want to do i will measure some.

I was keen to beef up the rear susp on an RM 100 T, and since the 125 and 100 shared the same rear wheel-different spacers, My first thought was to fit a 125 rear end, but then I saw a PE 175 rear end on EBAY and started to think that perhaps there is not too much difference between RM125T and PE175T. The width of the fulcrum would need to be the same for a start just to see if it is going to fit between the frame rails, if you have that measurement it would be a good start thanks Bill :)

you wont want to fit a 79 PE swing arm, it will be a step backwards. go for the RM 125 T or a 80/81 PE 175 swingarm. the 80/81 PE swing arms are the same and are both alloy. 79 PE swing arm is not alloy.

i dont have  any 175 swing arms i can measure sorry.

RM 125 T shocks are about 414mm long or somewhere approximatley around 16.5" 80 and 81 PE 175 shocks are 400mm or 15.75" long and have less travel than the RM shocks

these bikes have the same swing arm pivot bolt so that might help you

Part # = 61211-40201
Part Description = SHAFT,REAR SWING ARM

RM100N 1979
RM100T 1980
RM100X 1981
RM125-N 1979
RM125-T 1980

unless you need quick release wheel i would got for a RM swingarm

RM 100/125 T swing arms are different part numbers but i couldnt tell you what the difference is
