getting paint off rubber

anyone had any luck getting paint off rubber? I'm talking about the carb joint, which has two coats of paint, fast red and factory black, but the rubber seems in good nick underneath.

I've googled it and come up with rubbing alcohol? (seems a waste of good alcohol)

Any thinners should do the trick. Just don't go too overboard.

Mainline,If you have any old brake fluid, mix about 70% brake fluid with metho and allow to soak for about 4 hrs and check. this trick also restores the suppleness of the rubber, but be aware that some rubber will swell, but YZ carb joints, fuel tank mounts, intake manifolds, and frame vibration isolation rubbers come up micky duck!! ;)

well the car leaks brake fluid and I have a bottle of metho in the fridge, so that sounds the go

Auto one have a grease and wax remover which tends to be cheap and gentle on rubber - also good for removing overspray without ruining everything else.

Com on Tim , Orange juice and metho , sure we can make some sort of  sidecar brew to go faster  8) and with the leftovers we clean our rubbers and acid dip the footpegs  ;D

do not,  I repeat DO NOT mix the brake fluid with normal old everyday chlorine. If you do happen to do this inadvertantly thinking it was metho you have about 2 seconds to run away before things turn real ugly :o we used to trash disliked fuddy duddy's letterboxes like this when we was kids..shit kids we must have been but usually only the people who abused us :D
