Differences between RM125 X, Z & D
« on: December 11, 2008, 02:11:35 pm »
I know that the 81 model (X) had a case reed, and the 83 (D) had yellow fork legs, but are there any other significant differences betwen these three models?

Thanks
Tex

D had alloy struts on the full floater and a double-leading shoe front brake.

Thanks Leith! You know I'd looked at that site and hadn't noticed the section called "Tell them apart"! Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees!

I've spotted a couple of other minor differences too...

Sounds interesting. Can you scan & post it here?

Do you know if there are any shared parts with the PE175 (full floater)?

the frames are ment to be the same, PE just has extra brackets for rear blinkers, battery holder, rear frame loop etc. forks might be the same but i reckon may have about a inch less travel than RM?. front wheel i think is the same as im pretty sure the spokes are. i sold a set of spokes to bahnsy. if theres a part you want to know specifically know then let me know and i will just run it trhough the zedder and see if its fitted to RM and PE.

yes i can scan that photo, im pretty sure i know exactly what magazine its in so i wont have trouble finding it.

all the PE's are petty ,much RM's but with a bit less suspension and additional enduro fittings, bigger tank, lights, more enduro spec state of tune, taller gearing etc.

here is that RM 125 from france. please save the picture if you want it as i wont be leaving it on here for ever.

the scan was much better and larger but for some reason when ive put it on here it seems to have lost quality, so i dont know what happened. ive never had that happen before.

Yep, picked up a cheap 81 RM125X recently, needs a barrell, the skirt has gone on the one that came with the bike. Otherwise complete, will hopefully get around to doing a resto on her next year. :) :)

Its a great bike and definitely the best of the x z d models.

I have a basket case that will probably end up being an 82 engine in an 81 frame.
