PE400T Piston and rings

Hi there, I have just picked up a PE400T (in bits) I went to a NZ VMX meet a couple of weeks ago and a PE400 rider told
me pistons were hard to get. I have searched and have to agree. He stated that a KX500 piston can work and I need a little advice please as I didnt get his details to follow up, (good lesson, get a note book or put it in the phone at the time!)
Can some one point me in the direction of 1. OEM 2.After market 3. the KX suggestion and the work required. I am also looking for the outside chain guide plate, but I can craft one if needed.

no aftermarket piston available. i can supply you with a CAD drawing for the chain guide plate with all details/demensons/angles etc for you to mark out on some alloy plate, or in a form that you can programe data into a CNC/plasma cutter.

Although second hand chain guide plates can easily be found, 9 times out of 10 they will be just has bad if not worse than the ones you already have and will be all chewed up by the chain so we decided to get a series of professional CAD drawings of the complete chain guide and its hardware so anyone can reproduce this wearing part by either doing it yourself or just handing the paper work to a sheet metal fabricator.

Thanks for that, will work on guide soon and may take you up on the template, I have to get this motor going first.
Is the top end deal going to be a real issue do you think? Maybe the $1000 bike was or is going to hold me back from my first VMX

Pistons up to .50 are still available new from suzuki.Look at Bells suzuki .com for part number

just one other thing on those CAD drawings. the std format is PDF, if you need a format that can be used for CNC let me know and i will arrange it for you.
