Being really anal here but the seat to me looks like the later plastic based RM125B/C job. The foam is a different shape on the 125M and 125S with a bit of kick up at the back. For the $ I'd like to see a new killswitch also, the rest of the bike is great but little details like the rust on the clamp really stand out to me ::) better than what I could do but still not perfect :)

I'm with you Doc. The kicked up seat is distinctive to the M/S models and for that money I'd want to see that rather than a Vintage Suzuki foam on a plastic base (OK I'm guessing, but it's what I have had to do to my M and it looks identical to this one). There's a few little detail things here and there, but it's not bad overall. Probably worth it in terms of all the parts and work. But as a concourse resto, things like the seat and the powdercoating detract from it. Or am I just too anal?

no not anal. it just sort of bugs me when people talk the bike up and claim it to be more than what it is and miss a lot of detail things and have incorrect finshes on parts etc. Hes gone to all this trouble but could have gone one more step to get it just about perfect. but it is pretty nice overall, but not 100% right or perfect as the auction kind of implies.

there's a certain feeling when you get when you buy a 'new' bike. It all feels new and it even smells new. Ride the bike even just for a month and this feeling and smell are gone even though the bike my physically look the same. No matter how well a restoration is done the bike will never ever be a new bike again and for mine the new feel and new smell are gone forever. Neither can the feeling be replicated when you first fire it up and know you are one of the very first to ever hear it or ride it. Restos are nice and they have to be and it's all good for those who are involved (especially the bank manager) but for the life of me, 2 of the most noticable biggy things about owning a new bike cannot be built back in or replicated in a used bike. No matter how good the resto the new bike feeling can't be achieved. (maybe it's all in my mind but once a bike is used it's used. No matter what's done unless every single item is replaced with brand spanking new it will never be as it was when it left the factory) I've looked after my RM400 and RM80 since new and both are great and look pretty nice and ride well but a far cry from the day I first kicked them into life even though they don't look so far removed. For me this is part of the reason I won't try a concourse resto, 1 I can't afford to buy every part new and 2 even if I did would the new bike feel and smell be there?? I don't believe so ;)
