1974 GT80 forks

Hi does anyone know where i could get some 1974 yamaha gt 80 forks it needs to be the right ones because i want to mount the fender to them i thought i had the right ones but realised when i pulled them off the bike that one was off a unkown bike because i took it to have fork tubes replaced but obviosly some one was a bit to lazy and chucked on a different and much shorter fork thanks Michael.

All the little GT, DT and MX 80s have same forks right though the years   They were the major Achilles heel of the little bikes so wreckers soon sold "good" ones.  Unfortunately be prepared to buy a rolling bike to wreck if it has good forks just for them alone. Been there done that Cheers Tim      I think I have a 15 inch front wheel still about for a GT80.

Yeah i know what you mean but im pretty sure the 73-74 gt80 forks a bit higher and have the fender mounts on the legs they were a little bit higher because they were road legal the forks would interchange but i want the exact right ones i do have a 1975 MX80 which ill do up next and i know virtually all parts from dt80 gt80 mx80 were interchangable but the gt80 road legals had a bit different forks only with the mount for the fender thanks Michael.

I have a set with bent tubes if they are any use to you, I also have 2 x complete bikes that I need to clear, not sure on exact models but they have all the road gear on them, the older one has a dusted engine and the newer one (blue and white tank) runs fine and I have fitted YZ60 forks and new YSS shocks. $800 the lot. Thanks Tim im pretty sure that will be the case with the forks because i know the original owner and he has told me and showed me where the fender was mounted and i had the original fender but it had the struts cut of because where my dads mate lives he was riding through thick mud when it was 1 or 2 years old and because the fender would be lucky to sit off the tire 2cm the mud built up and got stuck on the front lip of the fender and acted as a front brake jammed completly on he went over the handlebars so he thought ill fix that so he got some tin snips cut the fender struts off and mounted it to the bottom of the triple tree were you see most mx and gt80 fenders mounted today i also know my dad stacked it into a wood pile and snaped one of his mates indicators off he wasnt happy about it either thanks Michael

Fire the couple of parts books I looked at briefly today ,showed the low guards mountings on all forks legs even the high mounted guards models, That would be very helpfull. This was done on quite a few of the early Yammie small capacity trail bikes, Cheers good hunting.

Thanks Tim i should of had a good look at my 75mx80 if thats the case it should be alot easier for me to get forks strange for them to do that hey put mounts when they weren't going to be used but then they would have probably just used their existing parts bin like alot of manufacturers Thanks alot Tim as I now know i have some forks but there on the mx80 and you would know what happens when you take parts from one bike and put on another you think oh now i have to do the mx80 up but the Gt80 is of great sentimental value and whatever has to be done to get it back to how it was will be done Thanks again Tim your help is much appreciated Thanks Michael Ryan!!!
