G`day,
Heres just a little about myself:
I`am a 51 year old bloke who lives up the North Coast N.S.W. at Uki, and I`ve been ridding all my life since the age of seven.
I have now acquired a 1982 XT550 that I will be bringing back to original condition, hence my new membership here. This is a good example, it cleaned and polished up really well and looks great. I just need to a few simple things only. At the moment it looks like about a 2 yr old bike, pretty good really. However, I would like a set of fork innertubes as mine are too rusty and pitted. I have new seals and oil but are putting that job off till I get the new tubes.
This is a list of the bikes I`ve owned:
Honda 90-Stepthrough,
BSA 125.
Honda SL125,
Susuki PE185,
Ural 650 with side car,
Triumph 750.
Yamaha RD 350A.
Yamaha TXA650.
Kawasaki 900.
Harley`s:- 1936, 1938, 1942, 1945, 1967, 1968, 1973, 1976, 3x1980, 1984 and the last one 1996 FLHR. (yeah, 13 of the buggers, but restored more)
Ducati 900SSD.
Ducati 900SS.
BMW K100RS.
...and for now a little 1982 Yamaha XT550. (Wow I`ve come a long way! ha ha.)
Oh, I`ve noticed theres a few people here that don`t like the XT550`s. Fair enough, but can I find out why? As I may be able to rectify those disslikes or problems on this one when I re-build it.
Crap opinions welcomed! (about the XT)
Thanks and thats it for now.
