One of my clients has an e bike, hand made in the Shepparton , Victoria region. He picked the mountain bike he thought would be best for his application & they fitted the electrics. I had a go on it & it is pretty damn good. Instant traction & very, very fast (upwards of 60kph in secconds). It has two power curves & the owner told me to roll the "throttle" rather than snap it when in the high curve. I tried both ways & the bike jumped straight out from under me & sat me on my arse when I snapped it. My client heads out into the bush (right behind a housing estate) & rides without making noise. He also has a solar charging mat that fits in his camelback which he uses if the charge is getting low (he has around 2 hours at full power). 30-45 minutes of relaxing in nature while he tops up the charge & he's away again. It's not my thing (at the moment) but is definitely part of the future.

Someone mentioned above e-speedway bikes, now that would be interesting to see a top rider line up against the current 500cc 4T bikes in SGP. I wonder if they would be any quicker? Have the riders of today reached the limit as to just how fast you can go sideways 

Couple of spare batteries always charging in the pits, quick change when needed & away they go. Could see speedway come back to inner suburbs showgrounds tracks etc., maybe even long track at metro horse racing tracks...............

Thanks for the advice . Got mine today and went for a first spin . An absolute pleasure to ride . A bit of head wind or a slight up hill , just squeeze  the throttle a bit more. 60 km/h is max , but I think ( actually I am sure ) the brakes would not handle it safely at that speed.  Just cruising at 25-30 km/h to go anywhere  without hard labor  is a pleasure , feels safe and you do not attract any unwanted attention. There is no noise and to most people (and the law) it is just another pushbike .I think around coming X-mas this new toy will pay for it self .  Not suggesting to overdue it , common sense should still prevail , like with anything .
