HEAD BEARING 81 Rm 250
« on: March 12, 2017, 09:56:31 pm »
Hey guys,

Im replacing the head bearings and would like to hear what youve all used , what fits and whats crap. I see the  top bearing is a free roller bearing arrangement and you cant get them anymore and ive hear the replacement kits (pyramid) top bearing is too wide ??

Any tips?

Cheers

I've done a couple of  RM's. Suzuki machine the top race journal on the stem with just enough length for the ball race inner; so not enough for the longer All Balls etc roller sets. The steering stem has to be turned to give more room. This is not easy but quite doable. The stem is a heavy press fit in the lower yoke so hard for a home workman to remove and the shafts are not turned on centers so a bit of a job to get running true.
If you love it, lube it.
