so ive got this bucket of poo that's a dr 350. it runs now but as soon as I drop it into gear it dies electrically...the sidestand switch has been removed years ago but does the wiring plug need bridging? is it under the tank? or under the sidecover?

ive looked absa f*kn lutely everywhere for that plug, its like the wires were cut and hidden back in the wire loom. ive looked at lots of wiring diagrams that suggest either a green or a grey wire that reports to the cdi unit. ive run a light tester on to various wires and its seems no matter what wire it is, as soon as a gear is selected bye bye spark to everything :o

today while rummaging around behind the headlight I found a brown wire cut quite short as well as a black white earth wire near it, both cut off. "Im on it" I thought and yes there was power when kicking over (in neutral ) so I joined them, selected 2nd and kicked...:( no spark!! #%$@%#&* so im back to [] 1. I suspect now that the CDI is playing up.

so im thinking ill join the power wire to the neutral wire to fool it to thinking its in neutral.
