Good places for tune up

Hey guys, how we all doing?

I've got my hands on a '82 TS 185, and I put a new piston, rings, top end gaskets, but as it's my first build ever I'd like to take it in for a tune up + see what it else needs to get it roadworthy, figured that would be a good start for a build.

Anyone have any recommendations for the Sunshine Coast area?

The old ER... if the lights work and tyres are okay and brakes work and horn works and it doesnt drip oil then it will usually pass for a road worthy. had a few bikes checked and they dont even start them . last one had Conti pipes and they are damn loud.

As for a tune up its not that hard and i guess everyone has to learn someday. check your plug and see what colour it is. maybe grab a haynes manual and start reading.
if you dont feel confident then any bike shop will be happy to lighten your wallet for a quick tune..

All the lights work, except the rear indicators, guy who owned it before me was a heavy set... cut through the wires under the guard. The lights I got are 12v LED'sthough, will they still work?

I just replaced the exhaust gaskets and there's oil dripping from there but other than that it seems to do alright, won't idle for long, won't start with choke on, but will when it's off for a few seconds. Blows a bunch of smoke.

I should probably tune it myself if that'll be cheaper and you're right, gotta learn some day. Plug was pretty black and I tried to wipe it down, didn't come much cleaner so I'll go pick one of those up tomorrow.

Most definitely picking up a Haynes.

I do have a question about the VIN however. It has a compliance plate, but no 17 digit VIN number, only some 12 digit number that comes on the front of the frame.

LEDS need a resistor. if yours dont have them you will need to get them .

Resistors are about 20c each (although the tiny ones probably aren't officially up to the current flow for long periods, but that's what's supplied with some blinker sets).
Google for specs.

Something like this is probably the best answer if you run 4 LED Blinkers.

I was also looking for a reputable two stroke tuner on (near) the Sunshine Coast. I only got rumors and suggestions of "do it yourself", which I have so far.

I personally, have difficulty analyzing the difference achieved by moving the circlip from one extreme to the other on the needle, for example. I'd pay an expert to run/tune it on a dyno..... If I could find one.

Oh thanks for that, I'll probably just buy some original blinkers for it, keep it simple.

My problem is I don't know too much about bikes at the moment aha, not enough to tune it myself but I'm gonna have to learn

wont start with the choke??? sounds like the airfilter is very dirty. bike should require choke and no throttle to start and then within a minute or so it will need to be turned off.

know hoe to clean an airfilter properly. should be able to google it or we can help you here...
