Wanted Shocker bump stops for Mega 2
« on: April 12, 2016, 12:16:41 PM »
I have a Maico Mega Two with 1/2"(12.7mm) shafts in Corte Cosso shocks.

After a set of the rubber bump stops.

Thanks, Mick.

The old ones are non existent Bruce.

I thought if some one could point me toward some originals, I could buy them and then have the dimensions, for future needs. I thought about trying to make some out of rubber door stops? I heard this is what some do to limit travel in earlier classes.

I probably should have put this in "Tech Talk" to invite ideas and advise.

Dimensions; Probably go up to 41 OD at the bottom end. The inside of the spring is 46mm. 40.5 is a diameter inside of the spring col-let/retainer and a rubber diameter of 41 would give a tight interference to hold them there in place?

In regards to length, I can of course cut longer ones down.
BUT, I guess I am going to have to mount them on the bike without the springs and check how far they can travel before the Tyre bottoms out in rear Fender.

If you are not fussy, 12mm Ohlins or 12.5mm KYB/Showa ones would probably work fine.

Thanks Fellas, Your always a man of many great links and knowledge Leith, Cheers ;)

Actually Walter, I just checked the set of Maico YSS shocks you serviced for me with new bump pads.
They have 12mm shafts and I reckon a set of those bump pads would work well.

I suppose my brains working a bit better now. I will jump through the hoop measure the travel to fender/Tyre Clash,
and just go to one of the local guys and get some 12mm pads. trim them or pack them to length.

Thanks, Mick.

Thats fine , I have 12 mm  12.5 mm , 14 , 16 mm and 18 mm stops .

OK, fantastic Walter. I wil go up the work shop and measure up.
I have also bought a couple of 82 250 KLXs too.
One of them that has been raced in Heaven for quite a few years and has a set of YSS shocks on it.
I will get them off and send them down for a service with the bump pad measurements as well.
Cheers.
