my new old 490
« on: May 19, 2016, 11:30:43 PM »
So finally got around to look at my new to me yz490L

The story goes that it was an old desert racer from California, I have no idea how to confirm or debunk that theory.

Things it does have fitted sure seem to make it obvious somebody spent money on it at some stage of life.

Ohlins rear shock, simons forks, kehin flat slide carb, clutch extender/helper, sun rims, Clarke Tank and a magura throttle.

It also has California spark arrestor on the muffler and a California rego permit sticker on the upper fork legs between the trees so maybe it had some kind of rego ?

Either way if its old racer or not It is a good solid start to building a fun bike.

First thing on the list is to get the shock and forks rebuilt to suit my fat arse weight at Rosscoes suspension in Ballarat as soon as I get them out of the bike and take them down there.

I'll ad some pics when I work it out to get them on here.
