One bike one class rule - what do you think?

Hello All,

I'm not knocking QVMX at all, a great club. I'd just like to get your views on their one bike one class rule - particularly at a time when we are trying to encourage more riders to the start gate. If a competitor wants to ride his 73 TM 250 in the pre 78 race, as well as pre 75, should he be allowed? What about another rider with a 77 RM 250 B who wants to enter in the Evo race, as well as pre 78, should she be allowed? I say yes. I note that BMCC does not give the one bike one class rule.

So does BMCC interpret Pre 78 racing as letting Pre 75 bikes compete as well?

Should be allowed, thing is not every one is so lucky to have several bikes. I know in dirttrack you simply would not get enough track time in a day to make it worth while to just run one class.

Back in the day '75 was before '78

One bike one class makes no sense to me.

QVMX runs a one bike race also on their race day program for people who only have the one bike. You get two races per round ( your class and then the one bike race), 3 rounds per meet. That's plenty  of races for most folk i.e 6 motos plus practice. No need to run a bike in a class that it does not belong in.

you can ride a pre 75 bike in evo pre 85 pre 90 if you like but not pre 78 why change the rules
our club days dirt track its all pre 90 with st George or evo and pre 90 with pentith just depends on who is running the meeting

Heaven VMX run one bike - two classes within the same ERA (except the 4st race which is just Pre90 to get a good grid).

Example 1 rider with RM250B riders Pre78 250 & Pre78 All Powers.
Example 2 rider with XR500RE rides Pre85 500cc & 4st race.

The ride up an ERA idea was discussed but it leaves Pre90's out in the cold (where do they ride up).

The ride up a capacity was also discussed but that leaves the 500s without a ride up class.

The QVMX idea of a 'one bike entrant' race has merit.

If we had an open ended number of classes per bike then our meetings would grind to a stop as riders need to marshal as well.

No Ted. Brisbane MCC does not interpret Pre78 as including Pre75. BMCC runs per the MOMS. This does mean you can ride up a class (other than Pre75 into Pre78). We do see Pre 65 bikes ride in Pre70, and Pre78 in Evo. We don't see Pre60 In Evo or Pre90, so it works for us.
Your never ending snide shots at BMCC and it's members are very tiresome and usually misleading, and one has to wonder what it is to you anyway. You are not a member and it shouldn't concern you.
The three clubs mentioned all run good events with strong following, and surely  it's up the their members to decide how they run their own events.

I suggest everyone reads GCR 13.8.3.

My interpretation of that rules is.

Every machine in the class should have the letter for that class on their bike.

So if it is an Evolution class race every bike should have an "E" on their plates.

As has been said QVMX have an extra class for anyone who has only one bike to have a second ride.  Also note if meetings are run by the MoMS the highest class at that meeting can not ride up a class because there isn't one.

What individual clubs do at their meetings does not have to necessarily comply with the MOMS as far as this matter goes.

Each club runs their meetings as their members want if you feel there is room for improvement then bring it up at a meeting not here This forum will have absolutely no impact on each clubs operation.

The Pre78s being only '75, '76' '77 models seems a silly ruling but there have been attempts to change it but those attempts fell on deaf ears. Apparently allowing Pre75s with more than 7"/4" travel into Pre78 was against the intention of Pre78 and the will of the MOMS Gods. This is just for information not to start another MOMS debate.

But clubs do what their members desire and what works for them. The ride up a class and ride up a capacity options were discussed by Heaven VMX recently. Both were not adopted by members.
