5 sp is going to make hard work of that. CRM 250 or better still DT 200 6 sp balance shaft. DT has lots of hidden HP too  ;)

dt is slightly short and small, if your over 5'10 its a tad cramped. great for females and kids getting into off roading as the seat height is low. DT motor is as good or better than the 250 x. I found mine to be flat and lifeless despite having had a workover with retuning, alloy muffler etc.

I remember trading one in while working at a motorcycle shop in Canberra in the mid nineties, the engine had never been opened up (according to PO), one owner bike that had been used for commuting across Canberra 5 days a week at 60/80/100 kph for 11 years, 72,000 kms on the odo and still ran well!
Even if he was full of sh1t and I don't believe he was, it's still a testament to the reliability of these bikes.
Tony.

Needs the expansion chamber cut open and the mesh screens removed livens them up a bit

It's about commuting and running down the shops not off road. The DT is easy to tune up, with standard pipe/gearing we got 157kmh out of. Go the full bit they will pull mono's in 3rd with no clutch

Mate who owned it would have runs with a random bloke on a R6 on the Link Rd when he had a 5am start. The R6 rider told him he didn't catch him until 140kmh. We had a electronic pushie speedo fitted and that was in line with a car speedo. Here is the full house DT
